SPUTNIK HOTZONE KIT

The Sputnik HotZone kit provides you with everything you need to start building an outdoor or long-range Wi-Fi network. Run Sputnik Control Center software in your data center and deploy access points anywhere in the world. The kit contains the following hardware that works seamlessly with Sputnik Control Center to let you know who is on your network and how much they use it.

Sputnik AP 160 802.11b/g primary access point

Inexpensive access point (AP) and router requires end users to authenticate with their username and password before they can access the wireless network

Connect additional wireless and wired devices through the AP 160's four built-in ports

Plug and play third-party APs to track and authenticate more end-users

Obtain data rates of up to 54Mps within an operating radius of is approximately 60m, depending on environmental characteristics

Sputnik AP 200 802.11b network access point

Designed for distributed Wi-Fi deployment in hotels, multi-tenant dwellings, airports, and outdoor public venues

Rugged design; sealed enclosure; 200 mWatt transmit output, industry-standard power over Ethernet (PoE) capability

Pre-configured to work with the Sputnik AP 160 and Sputnik Control Center to provide a managed, long-range wireless network

Extend coverage by using the AP 200 as a repeater, Connect up to six links from a single AP 200

Data Rate of 11 Mbps with fallback rates of 5.5, 2 and 1 Mbps. Repeater range of 1500 meters with outdoor line of sight. Extended network range of 5000 meters with outdoor line of sight, depending on environmental characteristics and antenna usage

HotZone Module Options:

Manage your Wi-Fi network with the following HotZone billing options. Both the Pre-Pay and Radius modules run on RedHat Linux operating system software and require hardware systems with a minimum of 64MB RAM and a 2GB hard drive.

Sputnik Module for Pre-Paid Cards

The Module enables venues to control how wireless network access is provided-whether linked to a purchase or limited to a defined time period. Hotels can use the Module to charge guests for wireless network usage. Businesses can use the Module to enable restricted visitor access.

Benefits:

Easy to install. As simple as running the install script

Easy to Administer. Set up a comma separated variable text file with coupon codes and the time limits (in minutes)

Easy for end users. Users are redirected to a captive portal page for authentication and access based on coupon codes

Detailed usage tracking. Built-in reporting features to track usage of any and all Pre-Paid codes.

Flexible reporting. Sputnik Control Center includes real-time telemetry and historical reporting of end- and AP-bandwidth usage in hourly, daily, weekly and monthly durations

Sputnik Module for Radius

Don't want to Pre-Pay? Set up standard user accounts using RADIUS, a trusted standard for remote user authentication, which integrates easily with a variety of billing systems.

Detailed accounting information collected by Sputnik Control Center is passed to the RADIUS server. With user accounts centralized and isolated on the RADIUS server or servers, the costs of user management no longer burden venues.

RADIUS servers support a wide variety of remote and local authentication, allowing providers to bundle services to an end user without requiring the maintenance of separate user databases.
