Sylvia Barrera’s trajectory in commercial broadcast production began in 1997 in Houston, TX and has taken her to various states throughout the U.S. and countries in South America. Her work at Palomar eventually led to a position at Wing LA. After which, she began agency producing both freelance and on-staff at Mendoza Dillon, GlobalHue, al Punto Advertising, and Lopez Negrete. Sylvia’s 11 years on both the production and agency sides of the business have given her a strong foundation in advertising. While Ms. Barrera’s professional experience in advertising owes its start to the General market, her years of expertise developed and evolved working in the Hispanic market. She has also worked in both the Urban and African-American markets.

Sylvia’s background is of Mexican decent yet she considers herself a citizen of the world and enjoys working harmoniously with various types of people. Since receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Radio and TV Communication from the University of Houston, Broadcast Production has become Sylvia’s passion. This passion has been fed by continuing the learning process. She has done so by joining Group 101 Films in the year 2000, and Book Shop in 2004. No greater appreciation can be had for filmmaking than the actual experience of feeling the bumps and bruises of writing, directing, acting, producing, and editing your own projects with absolutely no money on a deadline of 30 days!

Ms. Barrera lives in Los Angeles and in her spare time enjoys the arts, music, films and photography.
