Griffith Park Ridge Trail (off Vermont)
Commentary: Trailhead starts on vermont about 0.3 mi from the griffith park gate entrance. start at bottom of the hill and go up the dirt trail SE direction (which takes you around the mtn. curve with views of the tennis courts). there are a few trails that lead off the main dirt trail. if you stay on the wide dirt trail, it's a little longer to the top but not as steep. once u get closer to the top, the trail narrows and becomes a little more challenging with further uphill treks. it takes you back westward towards a patch of trees (more...)
Griffith Park Dante's Peak (off Vermont)
Commentary:...u can take the narrow trail up the little hill adjacent to the drinking fountain which takes you to dante's peak or twist around the hill on the right side along the dirt road to the same destination (northbound to dante's peak). walk up the hill to dante's peak and there you'll find a fenced area with benches to enjoy the views. (more...)
Griffith Park Mini Climb (off Vermont)
Commentary:...along that first canyon, take the narrow trail which leads off the main wide dirt trail going northbound. stay on that trail until it stops at the foot of the mini climb which will be on your right. it's no rock-climb by any means, but it does serve some exhilaration and challenge (particularly for beginners). once at the top of the climb u're reunited with the main griffith park trail. (more...)
Griffith Park Bee Rock (off Crystal Springs Drive by Merry-Go-Round)
Commentary: ...u'll see a large tree just a few yards up. turn right into the narrow trail in front of the tree (u can't miss it). u'll be going north on that trail. keep walking along that dirt trail as it widens, twists and turns. on your left and right, u'll see abandoned animal cages from the old l.a. zoo (they say). u'll pass a park area with benches and hoops for disc/frisby-golf. keep winding along the trail (it's a brisk walk on flatland). as you wind left, u'll finally come across a tall fence (pictured above). go through the fence to get to the uphill trail leading to bee rock. at the top of the trail is a sign pointing left to bee rock.
